Lesson: DVH Evaluation Module

The first DVH is a differential DVH. The second is a cumulative DVH. A differential DVH is sometimes used to evaluate a target dose, as it is easier to read. On a differential DVH, the thinner the width of the peak, the better the dose conformality and homogeneity.

The greatest utilization for differential DVHs is evaluating targets and not organs at risk, where a point dose or mean dose would be more valuable; thus, they are less frequently used. From this point forward, we will focus on the more commonly used cumulative DVH.
