Assignment

Now let’s go into tPLUNC and try out a few assignment treatment plans.
Read “Selecting a Wedge in tPLUNC,” then start tPLUNC to perform the exercises.

The above exercises require adding wedges to beams. To add a wedge to a beam, click on the “beams” button (indicated by the red arrow) and select the beam you want to wedge. Then select the wedge you want by clicking on the wedge button (indicated by the yellow arrow). The wedge button will initially be labeled “no wedge,” because no wedge has been selected. After a wedge has been selected from the menu the button will be relabeled to indicate the wedge used.

Treatment Plan #1 (breast tangents)
Select Modules-wedges : breast.
Load “Assignment_1_begin.”
200 cGy x 25 fx (5000 cGy total)
Use only wedges and beam weighting to produce a more uniform dose distribution across the breast.
Compare results with “Assignment_1_results.”

Treatment Plan #2 (larynx obliques)
Select Modules-wedges : larynx.
Load “Assignment_2_begin.”
225 cGy x 28 fx (6300 cGy total)
Use only wedges and beam weighting to produce a more uniform dose distribution across the target.

Compare results with “Assignment_2_results.”
