Lesson: IMRT Module
Some treatment plans will require more complicated dosimetry. IMRT treatment planning is often required in difficult cases to acquire better dose conformity and to reduce dose from normal tissue. IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy) uses a “Dose Optimizer” to modulate the radiation via beam angles (5-9) . Each beam is a series of individual beamlets (mini versions of the beam, coming from the same angle but varying in shape and intensity).
